Casimir Bridge is a well-paced, atypical Space Opera. Sure, there is interstellar travel, space commerce, advanced tech, coalitions and pirates, but this read isn't fueled with dead-but-revived heroes, or a crack team of space marines fighting aliens. It is composed of super short chapters that work to merge character-based action into a cohesive thread. I read this book quick - not quickly skimming bits - but rather found myself motivated to get life's stuff done each night so I could continue reading the adventure before falling asleep. Having read hundreds of SPAs, this book does not feel like a debut novel. My bar is raised for Beyer and I hope he can repeat an equal or better sequel. There is death, destruction, betrayal, and new beginnings. I felt connected with the characters and the action kept the pages turning. I'll leave it to you to read the synopsis to see if this sounds interesting. Author provided ARC paperback.
