Hell Fighters From Earth is a fun Space Opera series launch were we have reptilians (enemy), Greys (friends) , Separatists (think Atlantis), and the rest of us land-dwelling Earthlings. World leaders have jacked up the economy and in the United States; a police-state has turned against citizens. Any dissonance is met with jail.
Denver Smith, a recent college professor and prisoner, escaped and somehow stumbled into a recruitment facility for the Legion, which is….The Hell Fighters from Earth.
Even off world, politics is still a game. Training, fighting, sacrificing, and bloody battles fill the pages of the series launch. Denver Smith is a likable hero and Cee is the Grey you’ve wanted to meet your whole life.
Much of this adventure takes place in space with the book coming to a ‘breaks-on’ conclusion. The writing is well done and the pace is pretty decent. I’d read more of the series.
Regarding the gritty cover - this is one I wish I had on my bookshelf!!
