Okay, so there are seven of these books out - there must be something here for readers. For me, not so much. I never felt that pulling need to read this book. It starts out quite fun, then turns into something else. I don't know who Darynda Jones is, but her highlighted blurb is, well....crap. This is neither hilarious nor sexy. Continued reading will have spoilers. As a whole, I'm not a big fan of para-romance; a little goes a long way with me. But, this also looked like some fun dark urban fantasy so I picked it up. The romance parts of this book involve a damaged, hot protagonist (works for me) and ripped Demigods. If I was a Demigod, I'd be ripped and wealthy, too. So, all good thus far. But boy these guys are a tad rapey. They use mind control/suggestion to attempt to break the protagonist down and have their way. Hmm. Not sexy in my opinion. This book starts off with a psychic thief trying to do good. It sets a fun stage for sure. But, it immediately morphs into a large arc before really getting more involved with adventure. Yes, you will get some character development - not too much though. And that is okay, this is a series. I think saving the series arc a bit would be a better use of a serial launch. So, we have this mysterious Sara Wilde. We get some information at the end of this read. In between this, she is thrust into oracle status, encounters an old flame (human), and struggles to keep her panties on between some Demigods. She meets some interesting characters - hopefully alleys - in Las Vegas. She is big on tarot cards, yet loses them early in the story. I just have no desire to continue the series - I can only assume it does get better. You may have better luck, but I'm moving on to other books
